Great post Tim! I've just started an open source thing called
MusicRecital that will use AppFuse and I have the source on Github on my
dlwhitehurst account. Matt's shown interest in helping me. I want to
take AppFuse and frankenstein it into a real useable application like
Craigslist to be place where people that play music and listen to music
can work together and create music events locally and have more
recitals, concerts, parties, jam-sessions, etc. ... Aside from my plans,
I want to "host", "lead", "own" this and watch it's progress just like
Matt with his. I have MusicRecital.org
and I guess I would need to set up a 5013c when it's all a buzz. Right
now I have a few very respectable people "watching" what I'm doing but
I'll probably code my prototype myself. I want to demo it on Kickstarter
and try for funding to pay for hosting so I can keep having fun without
my wife asking why I'm spending money on computer stuff again. I want
1) the fun in the "ownership" and be able to lead an open source project
and have that recognition among my peers. 2) to make an application
with AppFuse that is public and actually will be in use that I did.
NOTE: I try to market AppFuse everywhere I go, but companies aren't
interested in upsetting the balance of their current monstrosities. I
need a start-up that wants to listen. I haven't found one, so damn it,
I'm going to do my own start-up not-for-profit. Again, excellent post!
There's so much to think about.
